Owen’s 8th Birthday Photography Session: St. John’s, NL Photographer

Owen’s 8th Birthday was in early June. He wanted to do a Pokemon themed photography session for his birthday (Since he’s my son, the session was mandatory, but the theme was his choice, haha). I looked around and didn’t find any kind of Pokemon themed backdrop we could use, so we brainstormed and decided that we would set up his Pokemon stuffed toy collection as the background! It’s so special, since he has been collecting these stuffies since he got into Pokemon when he was 3-4 years old. So this session was about 4 years in the making!

We found some Pokemon balloons, and gathered up all his stuffed toys and brought them down to our home studio. Owen helped me arrange them just how he liked them (you’ll notice all the Evee-lutions are together in a box to the left. Owen thought they’d like to be together. We also added accents of his Pokemon lunch box/card holder, and a few of the books he received for his birthday to add dimension to the toy placement on the ladder.

Every year we get a birthday shirt with his age, and the theme of his choice. I’ve been saving them to make a quilt when he’s a bit older. The past few years we have gotten his shirts from Embroidery On the Rock, and have had such great experiences with them.

Finally, Owen’s little brother wanted to get into some of the shots. He, of course had to wear his full Spiderman themed outfit, and brought his own stuffed toy. Apparently there are big plans for the Skorbunny to go to the new baby, so they insisted on having a photo with Sobble, Grookey and Scorbunny, the three starters of the Galar region. I thought that was sweet.

It was a very special photo session, which really let Owen’s personality shine - so I thought I would share :)
